Trainees

Our approach to training contracts is to give the trainee valuable, real experience of working as a fee earner who can be responsible for their own case load.  We currently have three trainees working for us across our offices and generally recruit trainees every two years on a rolling program.

If you are interested in becoming a trainee at this firm please apply with a CV and a covering letter to the Head Office in Bath. The contact details are available in the Contact Us section of the website, or to the right.

Trainee Testimonials

Helen Cowan
Trainee Solicitor specialising in Commercial Conveyancing
Due to qualify in January 2008

“I started off my training contract assisting in residential property, dealing mainly on behalf of purchasers of new development houses.  This was a great way to get used to dealing with a moderate case load of files and sharpening organisational skills, and of course dealing directly with clients.  I have since undertaken a long seat in commercial property dealing with both a corporate client and various smaller commercial clients.  My final seat will be in the Family department and I will be qualifying into commercial property.  Training at LHP means quickly taking on responsibility but having supervision when you need it.”

Dawn Hughes
Trainee Solicitor specialising in Litigation
Due to qualify in January 2008

“I started my training contract in January 2006, and my first seat was with the Litigation Department. I was given the opportunity to run my own caseload from an early stage and take responsibility for my own files.  This has encouraged me to make my own judgment on cases.

I have worked in a variety of areas including Civil Litigation, Debt Collection, Bankruptcy, Housing issues, Claims for Repossession and beneficial interests in property.  I have also been involved in some Probate work including Enduring Power of Attorney.  Throughout my training I have been given the opportunity to attend Court and conduct my own hearings, use negotiation skills to encourage a settlement in a cost effective manner and draft Witness Statements.  I would like to continue working in Litigation when I qualify as a Solicitor because of the variance and wide-range of work and clientele.”

“I have had the opportunity to experience many different areas of law, these include; fraud, residential conveyancing, family and employment.

LHP LAW LLP has given me hands on experience from attending court hearings to advising clients, drafting statements and running my own files under supervision.  I have gained not only legal skills but I have also learned time management and file management skills and learned how to interact with clients which I believe are invaluable skills.

I believe that LHP LAW LLP has given me a good basis for the start of my legal career.”
