Malcolm Harris - Managing Partner

Malcolm Harris is the Managing Partner at LHP Law and is based at our Head Office in Bath. He is also Director of the Serious Fraud and Litigation Department.

He studied at the University of Birmingham and the College of Law in Guildford before undertaking his Articles (now called a Training Contract) at Bettinsons in Newhall Street in Birmingham.

Malcolm was granted rights of audience in the Higher Courts in 1995, one of the first 120 Solicitors on the country to be elligible to do so, giving the same rights of audience as Barristers in criminal cases with a right to appear as Advocate in the Crown Court, Court of Appeal and the House of Lords. He gained a Diploma in Advanced Criminal Law in 1996 and was awarded a Master of Laws Degree from Wolverhampton University in 1997.

Malcolm has also written a definitive work on Judicial Discretion and Suspended prison sentences which also comprehensively covered all the case law on suspended sentences current at January 1997.

He worked in Birmingham, Cheltenham and Bristol before forming his own firm Malcolm Harris and Co in 1986. He later established a niche Commercial Litigation practice in Tetbury in Gloucestershire before taking over Longrigg Sansbury on 1st January 1991 to become Longrigg Harris, practicing from Bath and Bristol.

Malcolm has undertaken many high-profile crime and serious fraud cases throughout England and Wales and has specialised in fraud work and litigation. Having rights of audience in the Higher Courts, he has appeared as Advocate at the Old Bailey, the Court of Appeal and a number of Crown Courts across the country. He enjoys problem solving for clients and believe that very often the approach and tactics are at least as important as the law in finding a solution. He has also dealt with a number of large and complex probate estates including contested matters.

Malcolm is a member of the Institute of Directors and has advised many businesses on a range of issues over many years.
